The exact cause of appendicitis is not known. However, if faecal matter blocks the lumen of the appendix, the secretions keep collecting and may get infected causing appendicitis.Appendicitis is thought to occur when bacteria become trapped within the appendix. This happens if the opening of the appendix becomes blocked and the contents of the appendix become trapped. Blockage of the appendix may be caused by a hard ball of stool or by compression from a large lymph node.
Trapped bacteria can cause inflammation and irritation of the appendix and, if left untreated, can lead to infection, or appendicitis.Once the appendix is infected, it can rupture or perforate. This is called perforated appendicitis. With either type of appendicitis, children might have symptoms of abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting or a poor appetite. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict who will get appendicitis and when it will occur.
However, when it gets blocked due to some food or fecal particles, it is affected by bacteria, due to which the appendix becomes inflamed. This condition is called appendicitis. If appendicitis is not treated at the right time, the appendix might burst, spreading the bacteria inside the body, which can result into severe health problems and even death of the person.Appendicitis can affect a person at any age. Most commonly it is seen to affect people between 10 to 30 years. However, there is a fair chance of even children getting it. When children have appendicitis, it can be difficult for the parents to recognize it immediately, because the symptoms of appendicitis are similar to a few other health problems in children.
The incidence of acute appendicitis in children aged 6 to 12 years old the most common, accounting for 90% under the age of three rare, newborn rare. The incidence of infants and young children with acute appendicitis was low, but it is difficult to diagnose perforation rate, postoperative complications, and therefore should early diagnosis and treatment.Children with acute appendicitis caused by reasons not clear, is multi-faceted, mainly appendiceal cavity obstruction, bacterial infection, blood factors such as obstacles and reflex interaction, mutual influence results.
