Meditation for Daily | Daily Meditation Practice | Meditation Daily Practice

You fumble for your zafu in the dark. It’s over here somewhere, you mumble. Hearing you awaken from the dead, your cat runs screeching. You are about to plant your still zombiefied self on the cushion when nature calls. Three minutes later your mother calls too, and you know you really shouldn’t answer it but she does have that crucial bit of information about the results of American Idol, and… that’s it, the day has started.

This Word is the inner Sound. It has also been called the Logos, Shabd, Tao, Soundstream, Naam, or the Celestial Music. Master Ching Hai says, It vibrates within all life and sustains the whole universe. This inner melody can heal all wounds, fulfill all desires, and quench all worldly thirst. It is all powerful and all Love. It is because we are made of this Sound, that contact with it brings peace and contentment to our hearts.

This joy, it is said, stems from having the ability to watch ones mind in action through daily meditation. In order to practice this type of meditation the meditator needs an object or target to concentrate on and anchor us in the current moment.Second, several people have asked about the postings for some of our older podcasts and why those cannot be heard. Well, we have limited space for our podcasts and we can only have so many up and available at once. Consequently, we had to remove some entirely to make room for new ones. However, we can still repost them at a later date once we remove some of the other shows.

That’s what we’ve done with the attached podcast. Strega and I did this one in January of 2008 and it was one of my favorites. You might furnish the area with objects or icons that have spiritual meaning for you, developing a little altar or shrine. Use what will put you into a contemplative frame of mind. You may want to enlist the help of Mother Nature. Spend time at the ocean listening to the surf crashing upon the rocks walk through a shaded forest trail with a cathedral of trees overhead stand near a stream with water playing over the rocks or a waterfall or watch the moon rise or birds fly overhead.

Set aside a few minutes each day and begin working on your breathing and Full Body Awareness. Don’t worry at this point about how long you meditate, just get into the habit of doing it.We expect to be able to clear our minds and access our deeper abilities. We expect to be able to sit for an hour and meditate, or to see auras, or feel other people’s chi. Then when it doesn’t happen we become disappointed and confused.

What is Meditation?

Meditation has been done for hundreds of years.Meditation is used as a broad term for practices done by a sole practitioner without much, if any, external aid, often for the purpose of self transformation. Often, though not at all necessarily, meditation is done as part of a religious tradition. Some people come to yoga through an interest in meditation, but for many people it’s the other way around. If your yoga practice is leading you to explore meditation, here are some resources for you.

The desired purpose of each meditation technique is to channel our awareness into a more positive direction by totally transforming one’s state of mind. To meditate is to turn inwards, to concentrate on the inner self. The entire process of meditation usually entails the three stages of concentration, meditation and enlightenment or absorption.

The individual preparing to meditate usually starts off by harnessing his awareness, such as focussing his mind onto a certain object.Once attention gets engaged, concentration turns into meditation or dhyana. In some forms of meditation this is called a mantra. It can be rooted in your personal belief system. A Christian may focus on The Lord is my shepherd” for example, a Jew Shalom or a Muslim Allah. You may prefer a neutral word such as calm or peace.
