breathing was regular and slowed to a rate of about 6 breaths per minute compared to spontaneous breathing and random talking.

Slowing the breathing rate to 6 breaths per minute appears to synchronize breathing with cardiovascular rhythms that also have a 6 per minute cycle.

The results are enhanced heart rate variability and arterial baroflex sensitivity, both powerful and independent predictors of long term outcome in heart disease.

It seems remarkable that yoga mantras and rosary prayer, two culturally distinct practices, are similar in rate (6 breaths per minute), duration (mantras are usually repeated more than 100 times and the rosary, 150 times) and cardiovascular effects.

Bernardi and colleagues suggest that Tibetan monks adapted the mantras from yoga masters in India

the quiet that he/she desires, there are still things within him/her that will distract that person during the entire process. Some of those internal distractions include something as profound as painful memories or simpler ones such as an itchy part of the body.

However, Yoga presents several ways by which a person can be better focused when doing this practice. One of those ways is Mantra Yoga.

Most people are familiar with this aspect of Yoga because they often associate it with yogis meditating with crossed legs and saying ‘om’ over and over again. Mantra can help improve one’s practice of Yoga and his/her outlook in life in general.

So what is a mantra and what does it do? A mantra is a phrase or a word that is constantly repeated. The repetition is the key to helping someone improve his or her concentration and help the mind avoid the distractions of the outside world.

Aside from helping one concentrate, a mantra can change how a person looks at his/her life. Repeating a certain word or phrase can create a thought pattern in one’s mind. Just like soldiers who constantly do drills to perfect the things they would do in the battlefield, a mantra helps a person create a frame of mind.

What is Jalandhara Bandha? | Jalandhara Bandha | Bandha Jalandhara

This position is very useful in holding an Empty Pause, for the pressure of the chin against the chest pushes the base of the tongue and the larynx up into the pharynx and against the palate, thus providing aid in resisting the pressure caused by the vacuum in the Lungs. Jalandhara Bandha is the chin lock, one of the three internal locks or Bandhas described and employed in Hatha Yoga. It is performed by dropping the head slightly so that the chin is tucked close to the chest and the tongue pushes up against the palate in the mouth.

Sit in Padmasana or in any comfortable meditative posture.Bend your neck a little forward.Sit in a comfortable pose.Firm your shoulder blades against your back torso to lift your sternum. Be careful not to push your front ribs forward. Slowly place firmly your chin on chest so that when you practise Pranayama with Kumbhaka, the inside retained air must not come out. While returning, slowiy raise your chin and straighten your neck.

Many beginners make the mistake of only lowering the chin in fact your chin should be met half way by the elevated sternum.Draw this crook diagonally up and into your skull. Your head should pivot and your chin should descend over this action, which simultaneously draws the top of the sternum upward.

The pressure on the Carotid Sinus also helps in lowering blood pressure and this posture, when done by hypertension patients, can help them tackle their health problems.Beginner`s are advised to practise this Bandha for a few seconds only initially. If you’re a beginner, don’t hold this bandha continuously throughout your practice. Begin your inhalation with your head upright. Apply Jalandhara as you near the end of the inhale, hold during the retention and the exhale, then raise your head to a neutral position for the next inhale.

Benefits of Jalandhara Bandha

1.Protects the brain, eyes, and inner ears from the internal pressure of the retained breath.

2.This Bandha influences our vocal organs directly.

3.Prevents the retained breath from “leaking out” of the torso through the throat.

Tantra Yoga:

What is Tantra Yoga ?

The word Tantra also applies to any of the scriptures commonly identified with the worship of Shakti. Tantra deals primarily with spiritual practices and ritual forms of worship, which aim at liberation from ignorance and rebirth. Tantra is primarily concerned with inner, mystical experiences, contrary to popular notions that it is the Yoga of Sex or a form of couples’ therapy. While Tantra is a deeply personal path in this sense, the inner journey should generate the awareness that everything is connected.

Tantra yoga images:

Tantra or tantric is a esoteric tradition rooted in the religions of india.Modern Tantra may be divided into practices based on Hinduism and Buddhism = vajrayana. Tantra Yoga tradition was fathered by Lord Sadashiva, the original expounder of Tantra, the indigenous mystical tradition of Eastern India. This yoga is a one of the most misunderstood styles of yoga, having largely become associated with sexual ritual.Tantra Yoga deals with expanding all levels of consciousness, whether waking, dreaming or sleep states, in order to unveil and realize the Supreme Reality.

Tantra Yoga History:

Tantrics(Tantra yoga ) understand the ever-unfolding process of creation in explicitly sexual terms – the attraction and union of male and female polarities, “Shiva” and “Shakti” in the Hindu Tantric tradition. Thus, in Tantra, the experience of pleasure on a microcosmic, individual level, evokes the universal process. At peak moments of pleasure, the practitioner has an opportunity to experience merger.Sadashiva is traditionally considered the founder of Tantra and Yoga systems and the first one to introduce music, dance, medical and marriage systems to human civilization. He was a remarkable human being in whom the Supreme Being was fully manifest; as such, he was the bridge between the phenomenal and spiritual worlds, and thus fully capable of systematizing, developing and inventing tools for spiritual growth.

This exploration markedly does not limit itself to the intellect but uses all faculties available to humans. This acquisition of knowledge is never purely for the sake of knowledge but for the express purpose of enriching human life and for practical use in the exploration of its spiritual dimension.

Classical Tantra Yoga tradition asserts that this universe we live in, and are part of, is the manifestation of Brahma – the infinite, all-embracing, ever-blissful Supreme Conscious Being. It has been observed to manifest in two polar but interrelated ways: Shiva, the Eternal Consciousness, and Shakti, his creative power.Classical Tantra Yoga tradition uses two main approaches to the realization of Brahma: The first one is simply a gradual effort to release oneself from habitual or addictive behaviors. It is a preparation for the other, subtler system of practices, called yoga. Classical yoga training teaches sophisticated methods of releasing oneself from habitual behavior and deepening one’s feeling of connectedness to the Eternal Bliss.

Tantra yoga Videos:

By bringing awareness to desire and pleasure, by making a study of what truly makes us feel the vibration of life within us and around us, we can begin to function with more autonomy. We may never totally free ourselves from the cultural constructs that shape us, but if we bring awareness to our actions, recognize those constructs as nothing more than that and commit ourselves to exploring desire and pleasure, deliberately and consciously, we can begin to find ways to get off the wheel. In practical terms, this means developing new ways of approaching desire and pleasure. Desire is a powerful force that can motivate and inspire. Suppressing it entails suppressing our fundamental humanity, and most people pay a heavy price for doing this. The problem is not with desire itself but with attachment to outcomes, so as a first step, it is important to cultivate an attitude of non-attachment. To paraphrase the Vijnanabhairava Tantra, we should not focus on the object of desire. Instead, we must bring our awareness to the desire itself and recognize it as an energy that is both within and all around us.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with seeking pleasure for its own sake, but the experience of pleasure is much richer when it is both understood and fully appreciated. This is true for any experience, from eating ice cream to feeling the breeze on the skin. In the context of sexuality, the awareness of what brings you to the peak of ecstasy can be translated into reverence for your partner and for the experience itself. The erotic spark exists wherever pleasure and desire are found. It arises as a reminder that everything is divine. Recognizing this and cultivating reverence can transform you; people will feel it and reciprocate, energetically.
