You fumble for your zafu in the dark.It’s over here somewhere, you mumble. Hearing you awaken from the dead, your cat runs screeching. You are about to plant your still zombiefied self on the cushion when nature calls. Three minutes later your mother calls too, and you know you really shouldn’t answer it but she does have that crucial bit of information about the results of American Idol, and… that’s it, the day has started.
This Word is the inner Sound. It has also been called the Logos, Shabd, Tao, Soundstream, Naam, or the Celestial Music. Master Ching Hai says, It vibrates within all life and sustains the whole universe. This inner melody can heal all wounds, fulfill all desires, and quench all worldly thirst. It is all powerful and all Love. It is because we are made of this Sound, that contact with it brings peace and contentment to our hearts.
This joy, it is said, stems from having the ability to watch ones mind in action through daily meditation. In order to practice this type of meditation the meditator needs an object or target to concentrate on and anchor us in the current moment.Second, several people have asked about the postings for some of our older podcasts and why those cannot be heard. Well, we have limited space for our podcasts and we can only have so many up and available at once. Consequently, we had to remove some entirely to make room for new ones. However, we can still repost them at a later date once we remove some of the other shows.
That’s what we’ve done with the attached podcast. Strega and I did this one in January of 2008 and it was one of my favorites.You might furnish the area with objects or icons that have spiritual meaning for you, developing a little altar or shrine. Use what will put you into a contemplative frame of mind. You may want to enlist the help of Mother Nature. Spend time at the ocean listening to the surf crashing upon the rocks walk through a shaded forest trail with a cathedral of trees overhead stand near a stream with water playing over the rocks or a waterfall or watch the moon rise or birds fly overhead.
Set aside a few minutes each day and begin working on your breathing and Full Body Awareness. Don’t worry at this point about how long you meditate, just get into the habit of doing it.We expect to be able to clear our minds and access our deeper abilities. We expect to be able to sit for an hour and meditate, or to see auras, or feel other people’s chi. Then when it doesn’t happen we become disappointed and confused.
