What is Breath Meditation? | Breath Meditation | Meditation For Breath

It belongs to all beings and breath meditation can be practiced by all. We are breathing every minute of our lives. Breath meditation is good for health and deals with the energy in the body. The now is infinite no matter how long you linger there. Sometimes, when we sit to meditate for 20 minutes or longer, big segments of that time slot lose their immediacy. We drift into default thinking and ride the shallow turbulence of our mental activity.

Breathing Meditation

Only then will we gain from our practice. If we look at ourselves in a superficial way, we may feel that we’re already fine just as we are, already know all we need to know. But then when the defilements let loose with full force as anger or delusion, we pretend that nothing is wrong and this way the defilements become a hidden disease, hard to catch hold of, hard to diagnoseThis is your only chance. Pay attention now or you’ll miss it In the beginning, you may be amazed at how much your mind can wander even in the space of one breath.

They provide a valuable means of releasing tension and reducing stress and are a strong foundation of meditation. As a matter of fact, the uniting discipline of the six limbs, expounded in the Upanishads are breath control, sensory inhibition, meditation, concentration, examination and ecstasy.Start watching your breath, in, out, in, out. One can feel the breath coming in and out at the nose, the chest, the stomach or any other part of the body.

We can also observe the way our stomach expands when we breathe in and contracts when we breathe out. This could be at the nose, at the chest, at the abdomen, or any spot at all. Stay with that spot, noticing how it feels as you breathe in and out. Don’t force the breath, or bear down too heavily with your focus. Let the breath flow naturally, and simply keep track of how it feels. Savor it, as if it were an exquisite sensation you wanted to prolong. If your mind wanders off, simply bring it back. Don’t get discouraged. If it wanders 100 times, bring it back 100 times.

If you do feel motion, notice the quality of the motion, to see if the breathing feels uneven there, or if there’s any tension or tightness. This is something I might actually be able to do When you realize that each breath holds the hologram for all your breathing, you may begin to honor the power of one pure breath. When you sense that each now is nested within all nows, you realize that an instant of pure consciousness will take you further than a marathon of habit driven practice.

Yoga is able to affect every aspect of our being through its multifarious practices which is why its appeal is largely the calm, controlled breathing and breath meditation. The goal of bringing mind, body and spirit into unity through breathing practices forms the foundation and link between the mind and the body. This provides a valuable tool for releasing tension and reducing stress and attaining peace.
