The dance of Shiva in Tillai, the traditional name for Chidambaram, forms the motif for all the depictions of Shiva as Nataraja. He is also known as Sabesan which splits as Sabayil aadum eesan” in Tamil which means The Lord who dances on the dias.
Use your quadriceps muscle in your upper left leg to keep your left kneecap raised throughout the pose. Lift your right heel toward your right buttock as you bend the knee. Turn the right hand palm out with the thumb pointing to the behind you. Gaze at a point on the floor for balance.Natarajasan tones and lengthens the legs and spine, opens the chest and lungs for breathing, and increases range of motion in the hips and shoulders.

Opening your heart through this posture helps reveal inner your radiance.You can hold this pose for five to ten breaths or move deeper. Moving deeper requires that you continue the forward rotation, moving your hand straight out with your palm parallel to the floor and raising and extending your back foot until it is at or above your head .Be sure that you avoid compression in your lower back with full extension.
